THE INDIAN Cabinet on July 15, 2010, finally approved a symbol for its currency- rupee, hence paving the way for it to enter the elite panel of currencies that have specific symbols. The Indian rupee has become just the fifth currency in the world to have acquired a symbol- the other four being US dollar, British pound-sterling, Euro, and Japanese yen.

Till now we have seen only dollar symbol, but now we are going to see rupee symbol also. It is going to be added to ‘Unicode Standard’ to use it in computers and mobile phones worldwide.

the new symbol of the Indian Rupee will also be available in computers by merely downloading a software provided free by the Government.

The Rupee symbol can be downloaded from http://tdil.mit.gov.in/ and typed by pressing Alt Gr together with 4.

The Software has been Developed by Consortium and ISO.

Microsoft has also released an update to support the new currency symbol for the Rupee.
It is available on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2496898 .

However, it is still some time away before the new symbol is adopted within the country and globally, but it has already started finding place in print and electronic media. It has become a new sensation in social networking and bloggers’ world.

The whole exercise behind adopting a unique symbol for rupee would definitely project India’s vision and its role in the economic world. It would definitely inculcate a sense of pride and gratitude in the Indian minds to have been a member of such an elite group.

एक दिन कई कसमें वादे देकर 'चाटूजी' ने उनको हमसे एक रात के लिये उधार मॉग लिया! बीवी की चुभती निगाहों से बचने के लिये हमने दिल पर पत्थर रख कर उनको 'चाटूजी' को सौंप दिया!


एक दिन तो क्या जब महीनों तक वो वापस नहीं आयीं, तब हमको सारी चाल समझ आ गयी, और एक दिन बीवी और घर वालों से हजार झगडे कर के हम उनको बडी बुरी हालत में वापस ले आये!


अरे अरे अरे, आप उनको अपनी 'दूसरी भाभीजान' ना समझें, वो मेरी सबसे प्यारी किताब है, जिसको मैनें कवर चढा कर फिर पहले जैसा सुन्दर बना लिया है, पर अब मैं उसको किसी को भी नहीं दूंगा!!!

बहुत दिनों बाद मिले थे, मिले क्या थे समझिये जैसे अन्धे को आखें और प्यासे को पानी मिल गया हो! इतने दिनों बाद उनसे मिल कर और उनकी हालत देख कर दिल भर आया! पुरानी प्यास फिर जग गयी और मुझे उनसे अपनी पहली मुलाकात याद आ गयी!


वो भी क्या दिन था, जब यों ही अपनी पत्नी की खरीदारी के बीच मै पत्नी को बेहद नापसन्द एक सब्जी की तरह इधर उधर देख रहा था!


मेरी किस्मत का जोर था तभी तो एक दुकान पर उनको देखते ही मेरा दिल जोर जोर से धडकनें लगा, पर बीवी की तेज टेढी नजर को देख कर दिल के अरमां जैसे प्रकट हुये थे वैसे ही गायब हो गये!


पर पुराना प्यार और पुराना मर्ज जल्दी पीछा नहीं छोडता, कई दिन की जद्दोजहद के बाद आखिर सबसे लड झगड कर हम उनको साथ लेकर घर आ ही गये! अपनी सौतन को देख कर बीवी आग बबूला हो गयी, पर वो मेरी दो वक्त की रोटी से ज्यादा कुछ छीन नहीं पायी!


हम उनको अपनी बाहों में लिये वक्त गुजारनें लगे, और घर वालों का गुस्सा उबाल खाता रहा! किसी नयी नवेली के लिये इतना प्यार ठीक था, लेकिन अब तक उनको घर आये हुये काफी वक्त हो चुका था, पर हमारा जुनून कम ही नहीं हो रहा था!
